On paper, Stray is a simple indie game. Nonetheless, there are still quite a few unique elements that you need to know about. Here are a few of them.
Specialty – 1: The Furry Protagonist.
As a player, you’ll be stepping into the vast utopian world of Stray as a tiny ginger cat. Being a cat is pretty unique as a whole. However, it’s even more interesting when you have to find a way to use the robots to get back home. Oh, and, there’s a small AI-drone helping you on the voyage to the unknown. It’ll help you learn more about the world and its inhabitants.
Specialty – 2: A Unique Perspective.
Cats are gravitationally ambitious. If they can, they’ll climb up the top shelf in your kitchen and try to make a home out of it. And, that’s precisely what you can do in Stray as a cat. With your smart protagonist, you can paw at various objects and climb up wherever you want. If you want to be a notorious feline, you can also try pushing objects away from their place.
Specialty – 3: The Course Of Direct Communication.
Another specialty of a cat is that they’re naturally curious. If they find a door of the house to be closed, they’ll try their best to find a way to enter. In Stray, you, too, have to whip out your claws to let someone else know that you want to get into the room. There’s even a scratching minigame available here that can make this whole scenario even more interesting.
Specialty – 4: Sleep Is Essential.
Cats love sleeping, and that’s what you’ll need to do while playing the game as well. It’ll get your energy back before you begin your tumultuous venture in the cyberpunk setting again. It also helps you get a better look at your surroundings while sleeping. And, if you want, it’ll be possible for you to take a screenshot of the gorgeous setting and share it with your group.
Specialty – 5: Zurks, The Enemies.
The curious world of Stray could have only contained robots, and that’d have been enough, in our opinion. However, the developers wanted to make the game a little more interesting and, thus, added Zurks to it. Vicious rodent-like creatures, Zurks will attack you instantly after you get into their range of vision. But, fortunately, you can kill them with purple light later on.
Should You Buy It?
Well, if you’re into exploration and love the feline community, it’s a must-buy game for you, then. The storyline of the game might sound a little simple at the beginning. However, as you get through it, you’ll find more and more depth in the plot.
The atmosphere, however, is the crowning jewel of the game. It’s highly interactive, can offer more than one screenshot-worthy application, and help you get the open-world feeling pretty vastly. Oh, and, the fighting sequences with Zurks can be quite exciting too.
