Early Life and Childhood
The Indian captain in all formats, Harmanpreet Kaur, was born in Moga, Punjab, India, on 8 March 1989, to Satwinder Kaur and Harmandar Singh Bhullar. Her father wanted to be a cricketer in his earlier days, and being unable to become one, he passed his dreams onto his daughter. He coached her during her formative days. She took to formal training after getting admitted into Gian Jyoti School. In the Academy, she was trained by the renowned coach Kamaldeesh Singh Sodhi and used to play with the boys when she started out.
Cricketing Career
She played the first match of her career on 7 March 2019 in a Women’s ODI match. She made her ODI debut in a big stake match against the Pakistani women’s team in the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Current Performance
In 2021, Harmanpreet was selected to play for the Manchester Originals team in the English cricket franchisee league called The Hundred. She played her 100th WODI match against South Africa in March 2021. She also played against England in the England Tour and also captained the Indian team in a one-off test series. Later in the year, she played for the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League.
